There’s two sides to every story, and the story of Cortex Accounting is no different.

Although our heads are firmly in the numbers, we’re an Adelaide accounting firm with heart. We focus our attention on building long-term relationships with clients, while retaining a firm grasp on the facts and figures that enable sound decision-making.

At Cortex Accounting, trust with our clients is of the utmost importance. We want to earn a place as your trusted accounting services advisor. Open communication is key to fulfilling this promise.

We develop a personal relationship with our clients by maintaining an open line of communication at all times. Customers are invited to call or email us without fear of incurring a fee. When you have a quick question relating to taxation, bookkeeping, capital gains tax or self managed super, you don’t have to be afraid to get in touch. With Cortex Accounting, there will never be an unexpected bill at the end of the month.. If we anticipate a fee will be incurred, we will advise at the earliest opportunity.

Ultimately our story begins and ends with helping people. Although it may be rare to find in the accounting services industry, we have a genuine desire to help people and help business by providing the right advice in the shortest amount of time possible.

Our Identity

The Cerebral Cortex is a part of the brain that plays a key part in attention, perception, awareness, thought and memory. These components are important in accounting and tax, which is why we have adopted this name and founded our practice on this central conduit of knowledge and understanding.

Our Team

Shannon Worrall is more than just the brains behind Cortex Accounting; he’s also the heart and soul of the business.

Shannon has been in the accounting industry since 2000, working in an Adelaide accountant practice as he completed his university studies and Chartered Accountants program. He became a qualified chartered accountant in 2004.

In 2005 Shannon moved to the United Kingdom where he worked with a London-based university as a Finance Manager.

Shannon then returned to South Australia in 2009 to focus on his passion for providing personalised services in a small practice environment. Since then he has applied his innovative hands-on approach to support individuals and small business, always putting his clients first.

Today, Shannon is continuing to develop long-term relationships with his clients at Cortex Accounting. With more than twenty years of experience under his belt, he specialises in taxes associated with property, bookkeeping services and other business advisory services.
